This 5 s.h. course meets 4 hours in the classroom each week; and 1 hour per week is devoted to doing on-line activities (assignments on ICON for online listening exercises and writing assignments, as well as other online language and culture activities). 

Taught in English. CONTENT WARNING: This course will be focused on SF works that challenge definitions of what makes us human. As such, we will often explore (with seriousness and intellectual rigor) works that are deliberately difficult: works that are politically challenging, ethically obscene, sexually explicit, and ones that explore aesthetics of “body horror” or the grotesque. The course level is introductory, but the material can be (in ways that are important or interesting) shocking. If you know in advance that this material will make it hard for you to learn or engage, it might be better for you to pick a different course.

This class has no prerequisites, and it is open to students at all levels, non-majors as well as History majors.
