Ethical and regulatory aspects of clinical research; historical background, current regulations, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements related to human subjects protection issues. Offered spring semesters.

This course will provide an overview of the ethical and regulatory aspects of human subjects clinical research.  Students will learn the historical background, current regulations, and IRB requirements related to human subjects protection issues.  Course requirements involve weekly readings of scientific and scholarly articles and writing of a case study.  Students have the option of enrolling for either 2 or 3 credit hours.  The extra credit hour will involve researching and writing a 6-8 page term paper on a course-relevant topic, TBA.

Requirements:

K30 training grant or enrollment in degree program with clinical research project
