Intermediate-level introduction for physics majors to Newtonian mechanics, noninertial reference systems, central forces, celestial mechanics, rigid body motion, Lagrangian, Hamiltonian equations of motion and small oscillations. Students are expected to obtain a conceptual grasp of these topics, as well as the ability to apply the concepts to obtain a deeper understanding of the physical world.


Prerequisites: (PHYS:1611 or PHYS:1511 or PHYS:1701) and (MATH:1860 or MATH:1560)
