Integrated introduction to subjects of thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, classical and quantum statistics of interacting particles; kinetic theory; emphasis on applications.

Introduction for physics majors to statistical methods of analysis, systems of particles, statistical thermodynamics, macroscopic thermodynamics, ensembles, equipartition, kinetic theory, phase equilibrium and quantum statistics of ideal gases. Students are expected to obtain a conceptual grasp of these topics, as well as the ability to apply the concepts to obtain a deeper understanding of the physical world.
