Continuation of PHYS:3741; Perturbation theory, variational methods, WKB approximation, scattering, Helium atom, periodic table, atomic spectroscopy, transition rates, and other selected applications.
A continuation of Introduction to Quantum Mechanics I (PHYS 3741), this course focuses primarily on the applications of a range of approximation schemes to more complicated quantum mechanical systems than considered in the first course. Students are evaluated with regular problem sets, midterm exams and a final exam.
